Welcome to the Department of English! Here in our department we aim to provide students with rich intellectual and creative
opportunities. Our courses offer students a foundation in the major works of literary history and
literary theory, as well as the chance to explore contemporary literature, videogames,
young adult and children’s literature, digital humanities, their own creative work,
and much more. Working with our talented and widely
recognized faculty, students read a variety of literature and respond in class discussion and in
writing. Through their course work, students develop strong analytical and communication skills that will assist them in all areas of their lives both before and after graduation.
