PhD Candidate Meg Day Receives Amy Lowell Poetry Travelling Scholarship

The honor is bestowed yearly upon an American-born poet of "progressive literary tendencies."

Recipients Must Travel Abroad for One Year

Meg Day, Creative Writing PhD Candidate, has been awarded the prestigious Amy Lowell Travelling Poetry Scholarship.

Meg joins our Creative Writing Director Paisley Rekdal in this achievement. Professor Rekdal won the award in 2011. Day recently published a poetry collection, Last Psalm at Sea Levelto wide acclaim. 

The award was established in the will of American poet Amy Lowell, who died in 1925. The terms of the scholarship are that recipients must spend one year outside of North America for research and writing, and submit at least three poems on their return.
