Visiting Faculty Profile: Stephen Graham Jones

SG Jones

Stephen Graham Jones is the author of five short fiction collections and 15 novels. He is the author of the young adult novel Floating Boy and the Girl Who Couldn’t Fly (Dzanc, with Paul Tremblay), After the People Lights Have Gone Off (horror collection, Dark House), and Once Upon a Time in Texas (Trapdoor), the second installment of his Bunnyhead Chronicles. Jones has been an NEA Fellow, a Texas Writers League Fellow, and has won the Texas Institute of Letters Award for Fiction and the Independent Publishers Multicultural Award. Jones’ current projects are a werewolf novel, a young adult novel, and a comic book. 

Stephen comes to us from Colorado for the Fall 2015 semester. He is teaching ENGL 5050, Studies in Genre: The Werewolf, "In there we're tracking the werewolf through fiction and folktale and film and poetry—where the werewolf is, we're going there, from The Epic of Gilgamesh all the way up to now."

Dr. Jones is also teaching a Graduate-level fiction workshop, ENGL 7030. Students will be reading books by Gillian Flynn, Josh Mallerman, Steven Pinker, among others, and everybody in class will submit upwards of six stories by the end of the semester.
